Style Dossiers: Vagabond Chic
StyleDubbed “Brother Sharp” by many of his internet fans, XI Li Ge has become a household name thanks to his effortless fashion sense.
XI li Ge, a homeless man from Ningbo City, China, gained Oriental fame after his picture was posted on the internet. That fame quickly turned into international recognition (in the fashion realm) when Dolce & Gabanna unveiled their Autumn\Winter 2010 during Milan’s Men Fashion Week.
D&G’s collection, mainly consisting of lavish ski suits seemed to have been inspired by the Asian sensation.
But unlike D&G’s luxurious assortment of wooly sweaters and expensive furs, Ge’s garments are an amalgamation of free items that were either given to him or that were found while rummaging the city’s dumpsters. Nevertheless, what he lacks in worldly riches, he makes up in style! He unquestionably gives new meaning to the term homeless chic.
