“Duty Calls” by Maria JM Farmere
Literature, PoetryDuty calls, a thought beyond a shaded line
a contextual pride of ever weighty burden
Vigilant heart speaks courage unmatched
with ease of grace befallen
Tantamount heroic named
A combatant strike engaged
Flailing; man to man rage, shouts masked through
gun roar
Hope sparks beset,
Honor in the name of God and Country
Victory for home bound skies
in clarion parody cries
An ecclesiastical game face
worn by rosters of battalion numbers.
The ethereal hovers waiting to lay claim
Duty calls, its soldiers by name
Proffered a set serving plane
of Warrior heart.
