Cirque Du Arte: The Art of Zumanity
Art, Art ShoutsEach month, SAFEWALLS is pairing up with three cutting-edge artists to create original art posters inspired by Cirque du Soleil shows. With these artworks, SAFEWALLS tours the world following the trail of Cirque du Soleil shows to hold a monthly exhibition that grows in size as works from previous cities are added to the collection. By bringing Cirque du Soleil and visual artists together, SAFEWALLS celebrates street art and culture—the very roots of Cirque—and breathes new life into the time-honoured art form that is the vintage circus poster.
Zumanity, the Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil, is a seductive twist on reality, making the provocative playful and the forbidden electrifying! Leave all inhibitions at the door and let loose as this adult-themed production takes you on a sexy thrill ride full of sensational acrobatics and naughty fun. Part burlesque and part cabaret, Zumanity is one full night you’ll never forget! Zumanity was created for adults 18 and over. Only at New York-New York Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas.
Vaguely reminiscent of turn-of-century french advertising, Frank Kozik created a piece fusing his hard-edge-rock poster style with the sensuality of Zumanity.
Casey Weldon’s creation pays tribute to what he believes to be the most graceful part of Zumanity, the two legendary girls performing aquatic acrobatics in the blue light of a glass ball.
Using old master techniques and transparent shadows, Chet Zar centered his poster design around the Zumanity Pan character and gave “it” his well-known/famous monster treatment.
