Although she may look normal on the outside, Margaux Wosk isn’t your average British-Columbian girl. When her inspiration is just right, she dispenses with the pleasantries and takes on her true form as the avant-garde artist, Retrophiliac.

When I look at this work I see the elements of the physical world around us blended in the mind of child and spit back out onto the canvas in a style that can perhaps be best described as neo-expressionism.

Regardless of how you define it, the work of Retrophiliac really has an undeniable popping quality. Wild colors and strange angles allow it to virtually ooze happy feelings while remaining somehow eerie in its familiarity.
