The Exquisite Corpse Video Project (ECVP) attempts to piece puzzle parts of artistic creations through a stop-and-go of video art clips. Think of it like a game of broken telephone where listeners become creators in a speedy transition, relying on parts ingested in the changeover. gallerywest will feature this special screening of the ECVP Vol. 3 – Trans on July 28th from 8pm – 11pm. ECVP Project Coordinator, Kika Nicolela will curate the screening.
The unique video collaboration, which features artists from across the globe, draws from the Surrealist ‘game’ where, “a paper is folded such that each contributor sees only a small portion of the previous contributor’s work, and begins his own work from that small portion. When the last participant is finished, the sheet is unfolded to reveal a strangely divergent, yet contagious form or figure.”
Participants of The Exquisite Corpse Video Project (ECVP) follow the Surrealist suit mirroring practice through the inclusion of video art, which responds to the final ten seconds of the previous member’s work. While each member adds his or her own installment—the project evolves through a new wave of associated originality with the overall vision meshing into one abiding “corpse.”
What to expect: A one-night screening of ECVP’s (Vol. 3) global patchwork of creation, featuring video art snippets submitted by artists stemming from all over the world.
gallerywest’s exclusive one-night only screening of The Exquisite Corpse Video Project is a not-to-miss experience.
