German Artist Herbert Bayer’s Seven Convolutions (1948)
Art, Art Retros
This is the first post on Zouch dedicated to a practionier of the Bauhaus style of art and design. The Bauhaus movement was an evolution of German modernism that rose to prominence in Germany in the early 20th century. The unique fine arts concepts of this movement were practiced in 3 schools in Germany from 1919 to 1933, before the entire school was shut down due to pressure from the Nazi regime. I suppose the Nazis weren’t satisfied enough causing political and social strife, so they decide to mess with the arts as well.
“Herbert Bayer (April 5, 1900 – September 30, 1985) was an Austrian American graphic designer, painter, photographer, sculptor, art director, environmental & interior designer, and architect, who was widely recognized as the last living member of the Bauhaus and was instrumental in the development of the Atlantic Richfield Company’s corporate art collection until his death in 1985.” – wikipedia
